시놉시스

This collection of films connects works of ten different directors and nine themes. It is a record of how the students of Taiwan occupy the parliament during March 2014, how did it change the youth, and what did they change after 24 days. After the young generation stormed through the side door of the legislative Yuan, it was as if the door to a bottomless black hole was thrown open. The meaning of democracy was represented in the black whole. As a generation that enjoys a democratic system, when they realized democracy is being taken away from them, their solution is to reclaim it back. This film records the youth movement of the sunflower occupation and how these young activists re-exam the value of democracy and justice, a process that is full of sincere tears and laughter. March 18, 2014, in Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan, an agreement concerning the service trade between Taiwan and China was being reviewed. The political and economic relations were at stake. During the review process, the ruling party Kuomintang intended to rush the bill through without proper democratic process. To protest against this violation of the democratic spirit, a group of students and NGO activists stormed into the parliament and triggered a 24 days long occupation of the parliament. The documentary filmmakers union called its members to pick up their camera and stay on site 24-7, to record this historical event. Financing through online crowd sourcing, people generously sponsored the project. In turn, this project was able to bring together a camera crew and editing, music, animation talents, along with enthusiastic volunteers, to complete the <Sunflower Occupation> documentary.
